Your Photos Vaison-la-Romaine, lies at the foot of the Denetelles de Montmirail mountains in Provence. An ancient town once inhabited by the Romans, it was called Vaison until 1924 when it was renamed. The La Romaine part of the name is in homage to the number of Roman ruins uncovered in the early 20th century.
